For everyone who has ever read a book, knows the distant lands the words can take us to, the endless stories, lives, worlds that a book can open up for us remain unmatched to any other form of art. Books are a piece of art, for the way they are crafted. I say ‘Crafted’, because it is indeed a beautiful expression, carefully thought and blended to make a story or a narrative, enriching the experience of a reader.
How else do you think, what may seem like a mere amalgamation of text on pages, holds the power to let you open the doors to a new world, you can visualize each character, breathe the air of that land, feel the emotions, be so attached that the book doesn’t just remain a book in your hands, but becomes a part of you at that very moment. And all this arises out of, what we call, a book.

Search on google, and it says, there are over 130 million books in the world today. Can you imagine the amount of stories, the possibilities of the countless experiences that are stored in each one of those treasures? Books are intertwined, you can find a book in another book, a poem in another poem. We hold the power to see the book as whatever we would imagine it to be. A book finds us a parallel world, but we can find a parallel to that parallel as well. There is no limit.
Have you ever read a book and found a new story in that? Well, that is my attempt in this project which I call ‘Flames of Passion’.
There is a surreal joy while holding a book, the smell of the pages, the feel of the book, each element attaches the reader furthermore to the writing. I chose to pick up a book, with no prerequisites, be it the genre, or the content or the style of writing. I attempted to create an altered book, where I would at random pick up a page, find 5-6 words, and create a story out of it. What I held in hand was a 270 page novel titled, ‘Portrait of marriage’ by Nigel Nicholson, which was transformed into a 5 page book that held intense love stories. I experimented with the original look of the book. What was a regular looking novel, is now a book that seems to have been burnt and is a collection of stories and narratives of love, and passion.
